Sonia Hillios has been a portrait artist since 1979 and a media artist and illustrator over ten years. She works in airbrush, acrylics, and mixed media. Since 1993 she has created well over100 paintings. Her work has been commissioned for book covers, comic book covers, collector plates, limited editions lithographs, commemorative posters, trading cards and other products. Clients include Pocket Books, The Hamilton Collection, DC Comics, Skybox, and QVC. Creating licensed works for Paramount Pictures, Lucasfilm Ltd., Sony Signatures, Twentieth Century Fox, Capcom and Universal.
While most media artist specialize in one area, such as technical paintings, Sonia's talent covers a broad range. She can capture an actor's likeness, render a photographically accurate image of a complex space vessel, or create a lifelike character from descriptions in a script. Her portraits are well received and quickly approved. She has even received notes of appreciation from some of the actors. Her Star Wars Space Vehicle series from the Hamilton Collection was a hit with collectors not only for their beauty, but for their technical perfection. Originals from this series now hang in the collection of Lucasfilm Ltd.
For preliminary approval sketches Sonia employs a state-of-the-art computer system and Photoshop software to produce full color images as well as traditional media. These sketches provide the client with a better idea of the layout and give a more accurate idea of what the finished painting will look like. Depending upon the Clients needs, the finished artwork may be delivered in various formats. Images may be provided on a CD. 4x5 or 8x10 transparencies are available through our professional art photographer. Images are also available on zip disk if needed.
